When the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was passed in 1990, Congress sought to ensure that businesses and public service providers took important and necessary steps to accommodate people with disabilities. However, the internet as we know it today did not exist in 1990, and the ADA legislation has not been able to keep up with the pace of today’s digital world. From now on, all websites that are ADA-compliant must be accessible to users with a range of disabilities.

There are major benefits that businesses gain when making their website ADA and WCAG compliant through proper accessibility:

  • Improving a website user’s experience. No matter who is visiting the website, a great user experience will help to keep them for longer. Accessibility features help visitors personalize a website to meet their needs.
  • An opportunity to increase customer base. Poor accessibility means some groups of people are simply unable to use your website and, therefore, not understand your brand. Implementing an accessibility solution will help to boost your digital reach.
  • Prevent expensive lawsuits. If your website is inaccessible for a disabled visitor, you will likely be on the losing side if you go to trial.

The ADA compliance is definitely a hot topic right now and still in a bit of grey area as to what businesses need to do to make their site accessible. That is why we teamed with the professionals at Stratosphere. Their team knew exactly what to do to revamp our site to make it perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust.

Stratosphere helped to make our social icons, buttons, images, icons, sliders, blogs, and form fields more user-friendly for all. They were able to take on the project quickly and knew exactly what to do to ensure our website was brought up-to-date and that all areas of the site were addressed.

Does your website need to be updated? Contact the team at Stratosphere who can help! We are pleased to be working with them.

COVID-19 Update:

The Coronavirus, officially COVID-19, has become a global health emergency. One of the measures Hoffman Brown Company has taken to keep our CLIENTS and Teammates safe was to design a complete virtual work environment. For the foreseeable future, our colleagues will be conducting business virtually to avoid any disruption in our ability to serve you. These measures are based on the CDC’s guidance and will evolve with the situation. Please know that we are fully functional, available and look forward to being of service.
